Doomadgee
First opened at Bayley Point, Doomadgee Mission was relocated only three years later to Nicholson River due to the damage caused by a cyclone . In addition, the isolation and lack of reliable water supply at the initial site became significant problems . Like many other missions, Doomadgee housed most of its resident children in gender-segregated dormitories that were locked at night . Reports about the Mission in 1949 and 1950 identified poor housing conditions; all 60 children were forced to sit on the dormitory floor when classes were held (there was no school building) .
0Established in 1933 at Bayley Point, transferred in 1936, by the Open Brethren, to a site on the Nicholson River by the, closed in 1983.
