Borroloola
One day, John Moriarty's mother came to pick him up from school and found out that he had been taken away. He talks about finding her later in life:
"Across the road, this lady was looking up, you know, with a very fixed look, at me. And she strode across the road, and I was sort of transfixed there, you know, on the spot. And she asked me where I was from, and I said, 'I'm from Borroloola.' And she said, 'What's your name?' I said, 'John Moriarty.' She said, 'I'm your mother.' And that's how we met. No-one there to introduce us. So, we promptly sat down there and then, right in front of the hotel, on the curbing, and she just talked and talked about my grandparents, and the family back in Borroloola. And that was a fantastic reunion for me, which gave me a great sense of relief. You can imagine, finding your mother after more than 10 years, when I was 15 - well, I was very happy after that."
