Roebourne
Lois Olney is a West Australian musician, actress and artist. She was removed from her home in Roebourne at 8 months of age. Lois was adopted by a family in Perth, who believed that she had been put up for adoption by her birth parents, and lovingly raised as one of their five children. In her twenties, Lois reconnected with her biological family, who she continues to visit regularly.
Lois discovered her love of, and talent for, singing at the age of thirteen. She trained in classical music and opera before discovering her passion for jazz. In 1998, Lois released 'Red Earth - Blue Sky', an album featuring both jazz standards and original songs. In 2007, her song 'Sisters' was included on the Kimberley Stolen Generation Aboriginal Corporation's album 'Cry Stolen'. Lois continues to perform and to paint.
